Governance & Ethics

How we hold ourselves accountable

Trust is the real currency of education work. Here's how we're organized, how the work is funded, and the standards we hold ourselves to.

How we're organized

Washington Consortium is an educational initiative based in Washington, DC and currently building its organizational structure. It is not represented as a tax-exempt nonprofit organization. Contributions should not be assumed to be tax-deductible.

We develop programs for young people and training for educators, with delivery confirmed directly with participating schools and organizations.

How the work is funded

We are self-funded and selective about partnerships. That independence is deliberate: it lets us choose partners and supporters who strengthen the mission rather than reshape it, and it keeps us accountable to the young people we serve — not to whoever writes the largest check.

Our code of conduct

Three commitments govern how we work, with each other and with every school, educator, and young person we serve:

Young people first. Their safety, dignity, and agency come before any program goal, partnership, or headline.

Evidence over hype. We publish only verified figures, and we say so plainly when a number isn't confirmed yet.

The mission decides. We say no to funding, partnerships, and opportunities that would pull the work off course — even attractive ones.

Policies

Our formal policy documents — including safeguarding and child protection, data protection and privacy, and financial stewardship — are shared with program partners as part of every engagement and are available to others on request.

Our approach to website data is public: read the privacy page.

Questions or concerns

If you have a question about how we operate — or a concern you think we should hear — we want to know. Contact us directly and it will reach a person who can act on it.
